The Elysian Gardens

A Garden Sanctuary
in Central Portugal.

The Elysian Gardens are in formation in Aldeia Nova do Cabo, Fundão — water, terraces, orchards, forest gardens, and nine earthen villas held by the land. A low-density rural project, taking shape season by season.

I — A return

Come back to the simple things.

Sleep well.

Eat from the land.

Walk beside water.

Sit under trees.

Move your body.

Share a table.

Remember the ordinary beauty of being alive.

II — Water, terraces, gardens

The land is the protagonist.

Ponds and lily pads. Stone wells and water channels. Terraces stepping down toward the orchard. The vineyard, the food forest, and the slow blue line of the Serra da Estrela.

III — Stay in nature

Nine earthen villas, held by the gardens.

One architectural family of nine villas is being designed around the terraces, ponds and orchards. Earth, timber, stone, lime and linen — proposed materials, subject to design. Not yet open.

Nine earthen villas

One architectural family — each with its own privacy, light, view, texture and character. Earth forms the structural core.

One shared table

A single dining and gathering space held by the gardens, where guests, cooks and stewards meet each season.

Held by the gardens

Terraces, ponds, orchards and forest gardens surround the villas; the land is the protagonist.

Longer stays

Being designed for a fortnight or a season — the tempo the land actually asks for.

Not yet open

The estate is in its founding phase. Register your interest and we will write when the first stays open.

IV — Food from the gardens

The table is where the garden becomes culture.

Seasonal, beautiful, wholesome, plant-forward, estate-led and regionally rooted. Bread, olives, vegetables, fruit, herbs, wine — and the people gathered around them.

V — Experiences

Days held by the land.

Quiet, well-shaped days. Walking, learning, eating, moving, and the local mountain.
